Monaco Target Algerian Striker As Mbappe Replacement

Leicester City striker Islam Slimani is being targeted by Monaco as a replacement for their much sought-after striker Kylian Mbappe, it is being reported.

The 29-year-old Algerian heads a shortlist of three strikers wanted by the French club, who are set to lose their young striker to Paris St-Germain before the transfer deadline closes on Thursday.

Sky Sports News are reporting that the French champions have earmarked Slimani, Torino's Andrea Belotti and Chelsea's Diego Costa, who is involved in a public row with his club, as potential replacements.

Mbappe is expected to move to PSG on a season-long loan with a permanent deal in excess of £100million following in the summer.

Monaco may struggle for a deal with Torino, who are apparently insisting on the full 110million euro release clause fee before they will being talks on Belotti's future.

Costa is still in Brazil after falling out with his manager Antonio Conte and has also set his heart on a move back to his old club, Atletico Madrid.
