A Nigerian returnee from Libya has revealed that 25 compatriots, ferried from Nigeria to Libya by a trafficker identified as Charles, perished in the Sahara Desert, in the course of the journey. The returnee, who identified himself as Alex Otoide, from Edo state, said seven members of the group also died inside a Libyan jail. “We were 55 that travelled from here to Libya, 25 people died in the desert.More than seven people died from hunger and thirst inside the prison”, Otoide said in a report published by TheNation newspaper today. Otoide spoke with journalists in a government camp in Benin City. He said the human trafficking agent, Charles collected the N500, 000 from him with a promise of a better life in Europe.He, however, regretted that instead of Europe, he ended up in a Libyan jail. He said but for providence, things could have been worse for him as he witnessed the sale of 20 Nigeria girls in the prison where they were all kept. “They sold about 20 girls in th

Diego Maradona has big plans for young Nigerian striker Danjuma Kuti at United Arab Emirates, club Fujairah.   Maradona picked special interest in the 19-year-old Kuti, who only recently moved to the UAE, and has even brought him to train with the senior side.   A statement  from  UAE Sports Agency to SCORENigeria  revealed that Maradona had been most impressed by how prolific the striker has been.    Kuti is the leading scorer of the youth team, who top the UAE Youth League table.   Last season, the youth team were crowned champions of the U19 league after Kuti put them ahead by scoring the only goal in a keenly contested match against Al Wasl F.C.   Maradona, who guided Argentina to triumph  at the 1986 World Cup in Mexico,  now wants the young striker  to join Fujairah’s first-team, but only two foreign players are allowed by the UAEFA and already Omar Kossoko from France and one other foreign player have been registered in the first division league competition.   Mar

A dangerous gang of armed robbers have stormed a branch of UBA in Lapai, Niger state on Wednesday. They ended up killing two police officers and a banker.   According to PoliticsNGR, the robbers successfully broke into the bank and reportedly carted away huge sums of money.    It was gathered that the robbers attacked UBA bank along Suleja road just beside Kobo Campus of IBB University before attacking First Bank along Minna road.   It was learnt that the criminals gained entry into the town through Lapai-Gulu road in two cars.They kidnapped the manager of First Bank.   The attack on both banks lasted over an hour. They carted away cash in big bags and escaped through Lapai-Paiko road.   A team of soldiers and police officers chased down the robbers but so far no arrest has been announced. via Loud Naija Media
