The brain behind the online election conducted recently ahead of the 22nd September, 2018 by a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Hon. Mustapha Mudashiru Ayanfe has spoken on how he coordinated the poll and why.
Ayanfe, in a statement made available to newsmen disclosed that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party mobilized social media handlers from Southeast, South south and North Central to vote in the online poll.
On the statment entitled: "MY ONLINE POLL AND PDP ACCLAIMED VICTORY: A CASE OF ROBBING PAUL TO PAY PETER," Ayanfe said PDP had a "shadow victory" stressing that the party should not rejoice yet because most people who votes are not eligible voters of Osun state.
He said, "Around 8am on Friday 16th March, 2018, I decided on my personal capacity and identity to sample people opinions online vis-Ã -vis the fast approaching September 22nd governorship election in the state by opening an online vote between my party - the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the main opposition party in the state - People Democratic Party (PDP). The voting was scheduled to close by 8am of the following day i.e Saturday 17th March, 2018.
"It is a fact undisputed that within the 24 hours which the voting lasted, it became the most trending topic online as it attracted more than 2,000 voters and over 1,000 commentators. The overall result after the poll shows PDP was ahead with 52% against APCs 48% and since then, the PDP leaders and followers have been celebrating this as if they have won the September 22nd, 2018 guber election itself. To me, it is normal and expected because when the desirable is not available, the available becomes the desirable.
"I never doubt the integrity of the poll because it can be viewed, reviewed and analyzed. Surprisingly, after careful and objective evaluation of the people that actually voted one by one, it shows clearly that though the vote is meant for Osun and Osun people but sizeable percentage of voters were sourced by opposition PDP led by Chief Soji Adagunodo from south east, south south and north central to get what I called "shadow victory". I am saying this will all sense of responsibility and not to defend my party.
"My advice to the PDP is to buckle up, rebuild their cracking house and stop relying on external support for domestic issue as this will not be the practise at September real poll. I thank all the good people of Osun who participated in the online poll. Your time and love for APC government is appreciated and valued. Ajose wa o ni baje oooo. Osun Adara."
