Nigerian woman sentenced to 6-years in jail for drug trafficking in Rwanda

Priscilla Duru, a Nigerian woman, has been sentenced to 6-years in prison last Thursday, for drug trafficking.

According to reports, Duru was in October 2016, arrested at Kigali International Airport in while trying to smuggle 1.3 kilograms of heroin into the country.

Newtimes reports that during the hearings, she denied the charges insisting that a Tanzanian woman gave her the bag that contained the drug and she didn’t know what was in it.

Presiding judge Alice Rulisa in her ruling said that the court had established that Duru entered the country in order to collect the narcotics from Tanzania so that she could transport it to Nigeria.

She was then sentenced to six years in Muhanga Prison, and to pay two million Rwandan francs in fines.
