According to report, a Nigerian man identified as Kabiru Badamasi was ordered to be be given six strokes of cane as his punishment for stealing a bag of beans worth N15,000 by a Karmo Grade 1 Area Court sitting in Abuja.
It was gathered that Badamasi of Gwagwa Karmo village, in Abuja, was sentenced on a two count charge of theft, but the judge, Abubakar Sadiq who took mercy on him said he decided to be lenient because Badamasi pleaded guilty which saved the court the pains of a protracted prosecution, after the prosecuting counsel, Mr Dalhatu Zannah, had told the court that one Abdullahi Mohammed of Jiwa, Abuja, reported the matter at Karmo Police Station on the 23rd of January 2017 after Badamasi entered his shop without permission and made away with one bag of beans.
He disclosed the convict was arrested by the police at Agura Junction as he was about selling the beans, while adding that during police investigation and interrogation, the convict admitted committing the offence.
