"80% Of Teachers In The State Are Incompetent But They Won't Be Sacked" - Nasarawa State Government


According to the Nasarawa state Governor, Tanko Al-Makura, over 80% of teachers in the state are incompetent and not qualified for the profession.

The Governor disclosed this at the opening ceremony of two days curriculum review for Colleges of Education, at the College of Education, Akwanga in Akwanga local government where he was represented by the state commissioner for education, Ahmed Tijjani-Aliyu.

The governor while stating that rather than sack the teachers as Governor El Rufai did in Kaduna state, they will be retrained instead, he said:

“We will train and retrain them to meet up with the required standard.”

While urging colleges of education in the country to rise up to their responsibilities and intensify more efforts in the training of teachers.
