According to him "I wish to congratulate fellow Nigerians on the anniversary of our country's Independence.
We are able to come this far because our leaders both past and present have not compromised the unity of our dear Country.
Despite the numerous ethnic groups that make up our Country, we have all stood against all odds to ensure that we remain a single and synergetic country that we are.
As we celebrate this year's anniversary, my message to all Nigerians is that we should contribute our quota towards sustainability of our unity. All the developments we have witnessed since Independence were made possible because we remain a unified country.
We should all compliment Government's effort in promoting our unity anywhere we find ourselves. We are all bound by the Constitution to withhold this Country's unity because the unity of Nigeria is nonnegotiable"
