Nigeria 4-0 Cameroon: Eagles Thrash Indomitable Lions; Top Group B

Odion Ighalo. Victor Moses and John Mikel Obi scored as Nigeria thrash Cameroon in their world cup qualifier.

The Super Eagles began the game slowly, as the Cameroonians appeared more confident and more attack-minded, as they tried to stretch the Eagles, defence. But their possession notwithstanding, they did not create any real chances, even though Ikechukwu Ezenwa had to be alert on more than one occasion.

But midway through the game, the home side grew in confidence, as they began to grow into the game and also took the game to the Cameroonians.

And it was Mikel, who orchestrated Nigeria’s first goal as his fine pass found Ighalo, who held up a Cameroonian defender, before powering home with his weaker left foot from outside the box.
And then, later on, it was Mikel who got on the scoresheet as he got on to the end of a corner kick to put the Eagles two goals up.

The Cameroonians began the second half like they did the first, holding possession with Nigeria on the back foot. But soon after, the Super Eagles were back in it, much like the first half, and it wasn’t long before man-of-the-match contender Victor Moses put Nigeria ahead again, with the third goal of the match.

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr introduced Kelechi Iheanacho, and the Leicester City man wasted little time before registering his name on the score sheet. The 20-year old got at the end of a fine cross by Onazi, heading home from close range as the Super Eagles went 4-0 up.

And tried as hard as they did, nothing would come off for the Indomitable Lions as they suffered the humiliating defeat to their eternal rivals
